We have a new opportunity for an Asbestos Lab Manager to join a reputable environmental consultancy based in West Yorkshire. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, our client provides comprehensive Asbestos Management, Fire Safety and CDM Consultancy services to clients across various industries including Healthcare, Education, Domestic, Retail & Commercial and Industrial.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all client works are being delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and to the required level of quality in accordance with UKAS.
  • Reporting to the Quality Manager any non-conforming work arising from day-to-day analysis and QC check.
  • Carrying out fully compliant laboratory services including bulk analysis of samples in line with ISO 17025 accreditation and reporting of results for the in-house team and external clients.
  • Recording analytical findings and report results internally and externally
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of all laboratory and quality assurance services in the laboratory
  • Supporting the operational and commercial performance of the asbestos team in delivering our key business objectives and targets and the asbestos service plan objectives and targets.
  • Daily supervision to the team, providing support, guidance, ensuring line management activities are delivered to a consistently high standard.
  • Supporting UKAS accreditation and quality management arrangements

The successful candidate:

  • BOHS P401 qualification
  • At least 1 year of previous experience working as a Bulk Lab Analyst with a full understanding of all areas of laboratory analysis and asbestos sampling.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to effectively communicate and motivate a team
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Great attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of the bulk lab from sample chain of custody through to QC checking of reports prior to issue.
  • A good working knowledge of COSHH and the handling and storage of Cargille liquids.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems – proficient in use of Microsoft Office and TEAMS
  • Further BOHS qualifications are desirable but not essential
